DO YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW?

Many of us are now focused on re-connecting with spirit and healing the self by transforming negative beliefs and patterns. As we engage in self-observation on this journey of self-discovery, we begin to ask ourselves questions that may or may not lead to answers. We ask, for instance, "Why is it that I overeat?" or "Why am I depressed all the time?" The answer often comes, too quickly -- "I don't know." But is that true? Is it perhaps, instead, "I don't want to know?"

The words "I don't know" may reveal to you a fear of digging deeper into the source of the negative patterning that has led to the creation of painful, non-productive situations. Are you avoiding the issue? Afraid or unwilling to take responsibility for what you've created, what you've attracted into your life? If the answer to this question is "Yes", here's what to do next:

1) Behind all negative patterns is fear, so allow yourself to get in touch with and acknowledge what your fears are.

2) Look at what you've chosen to believe that has led to these fears. Move your fears out of hiding by speaking them out loud or writing them down. Decide if they are your beliefs, or simply beliefs passed down to you by your parents, teachers, friends, or society in general.

3) Ask yourself how it serves you to hold onto these beliefs. Does it serve you at all? What could you choose to believe instead that would serve you better--that would help you to create more of what you prefer in your life? In deciding what to hold onto, remember that beliefs that bring peace are based on love; beliefs that bring suffering are based on fear.

4) Once you decide which beliefs you prefer, live like the person who believes these things! If you find yourself slipping into old patterns, make no judgment --simply observe and move yourself gently back into the newly chosen pattern.

On your journey of awakening, tell yourself the truth. Then release negative beliefs and patterns and move through your fear into freedom. Love yourself enough to want to know.
